I have been obsessed with lighting for as long as I can remember. To me, lighting can change EVERYTHING. When it’s right it can evoke a feeling of comfort, warmth and relaxation. I love walking by a beautifully lit restaurant, especially in the wintertime. Peeking in everything looks so warm and cozy and I always imagine how lovely it would be to sitting back in a booth, wearing a beautiful cashmere sweater while sipping a glass of wine (or really, for me hot tea because I’m a grandma ha!).

Every time I have an experience like this I try to look around and study what exactly it is that is giving me this feeling and it always comes down to one thing. Warm lighting. Enter: the pink bulb. I became OBSESSED with using pink incandescent bulbs (always paired with a dimmer, of course!) To me these bulbs give off a warm light, similar to that of candlelight. I’ve enjoyed these bulbs for years until a ban was put on the sale of incandescent bulbs in the US. I love anything that is good for the environment, but this felt really frustrating. Realizing that we all must adapt I started doing my research and ordered over $200 worth of so-called “warm” LED bulbs to test against my beloved pink bulb in the hopes of fining a suitable replacement.  Some felt really cold while others looked really orange. I don’t consider myself an early adaptor and I tend to stray away from technology when possible so I was really surprised to find that the one I loved the most is the WiZ LED Smart bulb. I like the color option and my preferred setting is “~2400k white” and I like to adjust the dimmer based on the time of day and at night I like it dimmed all of the way. I’m also really excited to play with the features of the smart bulb, like scheduling it to turn on and off at different times. I love the idea of never walking into a dark room, especially in the winter. I also love that they are dimmable without necessarily needing to purchase a dimmable fixture. As the incandescent bulbs in our home burn out I will be replacing them with these . I’m especially excited about adding it to the ceiling lights in our hallways which are not currently on a dimmer. This was a fun experiment and I’m thrilled to have found something that I’m really happy with and will hopefully help all of my fellow warm lighting enthusiasts!
